So you’ve been hired by Mano en Mano – now what?
- Staff will contact you to finalize your job description and sign an “offer of employment” which will give you written information about your pay, benefits, start date, and other important info.
- If you have any questions before you start, please ask us. You can contact any employee if you need info about transitioning to employment at Mano en Mano and moving to Downeast Maine.
- Arrive at your first day of work on time in professional attire and excited to start!
- You need to fill out some paperwork on your first day at work. We will provide copies if needed, but you can also get a head start by printing them out ahead of time. Don’t e-mail us any of these forms since they contain sensitive information.
- IRS Form W-4 (2013) – we only need the information on the “Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate” on page 1. Don’t forget to double check your info and sign!
- Form W-4ME – this is the Maine version of Form W4. Again, we only need the info on page 1 and don’t forget to double check and sign.
- USCIS Form I-9 – please make sure that you read all of the instructions carefully, including the list of acceptable documents. You need to complete this form in person with management and we will need to make a copy of the documentation that you provide us. Generally, only unexpired, original documentation is acceptable. You fill out the info on page 7 and we fill out the info on page 8.
- Bangor Savings Bank Direct Deposit Authorization – We strongly prefer that you sign up for direct deposit and you will be paid on Thursdays (instead of Fridays) if you do!
- Bring a copy of your current “Criminal History Background Check” from the Maine Department of Education. If you don’t have a current CHRC or if it’s from a different state, you need to get your fingerprints taken or have a temporary license issued by the DOE before you start work (ask us if you have any questions). You can find more information about the process here: Maine DOE – Approval Instructions. Please remember that this is a multi-step process – you need to get your fingerprints taken at one of the IdentoGO centers ($55 one-time fee) and you need to submit an approval application to the DOE ($15 non-refundable fee). For faster turn around, submit your approval application at the same time that you register for fingerprints. If you qualify, you will receive an 8-week temporary license while your fingerprints are being processed which could allow you to start work early. Mano en Mano requires that all employees, regardless of position, have a valid CHRC from the DOE. It is the responsibility of the employee to pay for initial certification and renewals. You must arrive at your first day of work with a valid temporary or regular CHRC (copies and e-mails are acceptable).
