CEI Presents Mano en Mano with Founder’s Award at February 15 Annual Meeting

FREEPORT, Maine– Mano en Mano was presented with the Founder’s Award at Coastal Enterprises, Inc.‘s Annual Meeting on February 15, 2011.  This award “goes to an individual, business, funder or agency that, in the considered view of the principal founder of CEI is making extraordinary contributions to our mission.”  Mano en Mano was selected to share the 2011 award with two other organizations in Washington County: Axiom Technologies (Machias) and Tide Mill Organic Farm (Edmunds).

Executive Director Ian Yaffe accepted the award on behalf of the dedicated staff and Board of Directors of Mano en Mano | Hand in Hand and gave brief remarks.

Mano en Mano is particularly proud to receive this award from CEI–who is funding a portion of the construction of Hand in Hand Apartments–because of how closely our missions align.  CEI’s mission is to “help create economically and environmentally healthy communities in which all people, especially those with low incomes, can reach their full potential.”  Together, all of us are helping to build a stronger Maine that future generations will be proud of.

Other awards presented at the Annual Meeting include: Sustaining Community to the City of Lewiston and Partnership to Jim Baumer of the Workforce Investment Board.
