Thank you Bangor Savings Bank! Welcome to our newly designed office and resource room.

Just a few weeks ago, Executive Director Ian Yaffe received a phone call from Senior Customer Service Representative Bonnie Mouland at the Ellsworth Branch of Bangor Savings Bank.  They were getting ready to start some renovations and she thought we might be interested in receiving some of their pieces of furniture.  Little did she know that Mano en Mano Staff had recently talked about new ways to reconfigure the office to improve our work spaces and make clients feel more welcome!  The only thing we couldn’t figure out was how to pay for all of the furniture we needed to make our plans a reality.

Several trips to Ellsworth later, and we are pleased to present you with pictures from our newly configured office.  “We already have a remarkable relationship as a customer and recent grant recipient of Bangor Savings Bank,” said Yaffe.  “This just proves how committed the bank is to investing in the people of Maine and using its resources to build stronger communities across the state.  This gift is especially special because it was unsolicited and now plays such an important part in our daily operations.”

It didn’t take long for people to notice our improved furniture.  At a recent English class, students commented on how nice it was to sit in real chairs around a table that seems more and more like it was designed for them to be there, rather than assembled at the last minute.  Edith Flores (Outreach Worker) and Ana Blagojevic (Educational Programs Director) now have real desks where they can organize and store their work as well as meet with clients.  Even our guest computer station now stands on top of a permanent piece of furniture that shows how important our students and clients are to us.  Finally, Mano en Mano now boasts a private meeting space where we can meet with our clients in comfortable setting where nobody has to worry about their conversations being overheard.
