Student Portfolio: Migrant Students Use Their Imaginations During Blueberry Harvest 2011

DURING BLUEBERRY HARVEST 2011, MANO EN MANO WORKED WITH MIGRANT YOUTH TO CREATE SEVERAL MULTIMEDIA PROJECTS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES, TALENTS AND INTERESTS. From accounts of laboring in the fields and migrant camp life to fantastical inventions, students used a variety of media to express themselves and share their work with you.  Mano en Mano’s Migrant Education Program was funded by MAINE MIGRANT EDUCATION.
  • Students at Tribe, Vincent Simon and John Goo goo and Mariaville created drawings of what kind of super hero they would become and what their special powers would be.
  • Students at Wyman’s and Blueberry Circle drew pictures of the superheros they would become and invented the vehicles with extraordinary features.
  • Future Self: Using the program’s iPad students wrote postcards to their future selves.
  • Videos as part of the project “Tell me about it”.
