Mano en Mano hosts Steve Wessler of the Center for Preventing Hate

This past Sunday, October 10th, we were pleased to welcome Steve Wessler’s visit to Mano en Mano. Steve is the Executive Director of the Center for Preventing Hate, a nonprofit in Portland, Maine. The Center’s mission is “to prevent and respond to bias, harassment and violence by providing education and advocacy in schools, colleges, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and communities.” Its ten years of experience include significant strides to increase awareness of discrimination and hate in schools, workplaces, and communities both in Maine, nationwide, and internationally.

Steve spent the day interviewing local families and residents who were willing to share their experiences living in Milbridge and in Maine as a whole. He plans to continue work in the area through our organization and surrounding schools. We look forward to providing a platform for Steve to engage the community and promote further dialogue. As an organization, we hope that this partnership will deepen our own understanding of these important issues.
